When the National Office made the decision to increase computer functionality and upgrade from DOS to Windows, Instinctive Systems was a natural choice as no other consultancy could provide a system which met its needs so cost effectively. Book-It was installed to manage and administer membership subscriptions, mailings, correspondence and holiday and event administration. It enables franchises to communicate regularly with their members through monthly event programmes and newsletters and the world wide web. Within just a few weeks, the system had proved itself, greatly improving customer service levels, profitability and efficiency. Spice found it could effectively 'mine' its enquiries database to maximise the conversion to new members and share information across the network. Communication and working efficiency was also dramatically increased with all key members of staff having access to both the system and the data at the same time. Additional benefits include data analysis as, at the touch of a button, users can draw in historical data, to help forecast trends and plan for the future. Today, Instinctive Systems is the preferred supplier to the Spice franchise network and Book-It is utilised in all of its franchises. The company estimates that the system initially enabled a profitability increase of 20 per cent but since has become an invaluable resource and, according to Dave Smith, Spice UK's Managing Director, Book-It has totally transformed the business.
